Happy 2010! February in Glen Abbey: Whatever the Groundhog says, this winter has been extremely mild in Southern Ontario. Although there are dustings of snow, and there are minus temperatures at night, the daytime temperatures hover around 0 degrees C. Unlike last year with snowbanks piled high along the street, this year has been amazing. March and Spring are already around the corner and Golf season in Glen Abbey will begin again.
Located in beautiful Oakville, Ontario in Canada, Glen Abbey is a growing community with much to offer. Glen Abbey is a newer planned community with many fine homes situated near bountiful walking and biking trails with a modern infrastructure, plenty of recreational opportunities and of course the Glen Abbey Golf Course, host of the 2009 Canadian Open. The Canadian Open concluded this year under soggy conditions with the Australian Nathan Green winning in a fourth round playoff.
The Canadian Open 2009 was held July 20-26, 2009 at the Glen Abbey Golf Club.
Today there are many beautiful walking and biking trails along with the downtown Oakville and Bronte harbours to enjoy. The recently upgraded Community Centre includes a four lane indoor leisure pool, water slide, conversation pool with a capacity of over 150 people.
Also housed in the same complex is the Oakville Public Library. You can access many of the library's information online and even access library databases including magazine back issues and statistical databases with a current library card.
The neighboring Oakville Gymnastics Club is one of the finest in the world and our newly constructed indoor Soccer facility is also world class. From plenty of top notch stores to the quaint landscape and fine restaurants of famous downtown Oakville, our town has an enviable infrastructure and is made up of great people.
The local indoor and outdoor pools located throughout Oakville are offering their fall recreational swimming programs and lessons. Kids are already looking forward to Christmas and the year end holidays. In Glen Abbey there are a wide variety of after school sports and activities being offered including swimming, martial arts and even fencing!

The lovely Glen Abbey community in the heart of Oakville is located about a 30 minute drive from downtown Toronto and about a 1 hour drive from Niagara Falls. From the famous Glen Abbey Golf Course to countless trails for walking, biking, hiking or even photography, there is lots to do and plenty of infrastructure including fine restaurants and the quaint ambience of downtown Oakville.
Although Glen Abbey is primarily a residential community there are plenty of year round activities for the whole family.
